‘This song was written after I read the book of the same title, written and illustrated by the great Raymond Briggs. I loved how the illustrations brought to life the main characters of Jim and Hilda Bloggs.

I didn’t want to just take the book and make a song about it, but I imagined the emotion in the relationship between the two characters and what they felt in the face of the impending nuclear holocaust.

It’s probably the most emotionally fuelled set of lyrics I ever wrote and I hope it complements the original book.’ – Paul Draper
